FOX Sports South and FOX International Treat Cumberland Academy of Georgia to a “Makeover” as Part of 21st Century Fox Impact Week
Employees of FOX Sports South and FOX International volunteered at Cumberland Academy of Georgia, a special needs school in Atlanta, delivering a “makeover” to school facilities.
FOX’s participation was part of 21CF Impact Week, a nationwide week of service in October where colleagues in 30+ offices across the country dedicated their time giving back to local communities.
Employees assisted with various classroom repairs, including renovating a kitchen for a home economics class and landscaping the playground. Volunteers included FOX Sports’ Jerome Jurenovich, host of Braves LIVE and Hawks LIVE, and Brittany Arnold, host and sideline reporter for Atlanta United match telecasts.
“We are so grateful to the FOX Sports South and FOX International teams for their day of service and incredible makeover of our school,” said Debbi Scarborough, founding director of Cumberland Academy of Georgia. “They repainted our 50-year-old kitchen and several classrooms, and replenished our playground with fresh wood chips. They were a huge help to us.”
Additional highlights included a discussion by FOX Sports producer Jessica Cox, who shared her personal story of working in media while living with ASD. She also gave insights to the students on how to handle difficult social situations in life.
“There was wonderful camaraderie between our students and the FOX employees while they were here, and it was heartwarming to see their interactions,” Scarborough said. “Not only did our school get a makeover, but our students and staff walked away feeling encouraged and uplifted. To have these media professionals take the time to give back to us really meant a lot. This was a special day, and one we will remember for a long time.”
