The weekend’s festivities, consisting of the Party FORE a Purpose gala and the Chip FORE Charity golf tournament, raised significant funds to benefit the school’s mission of educating students with Autism, ADHD, and other learning differences.
A Night of “Golf Glam” at Topgolf Alpharetta
The weekend kicked off with the Party FORE a Purpose gala at Topgolf Alpharetta. Dressed in their finest “golf glam” attire, guests enjoyed a high-energy evening featuring a premium seated dinner, a live DJ, and interactive play in climate-controlled hitting bays. The event served as a vibrant celebration of the academy’s commitment to fostering academic, social, and emotional growth.
Fairways and Legends at St. Ives Country Club
The momentum continued at the prestigious St. Ives Country Club for the Chip FORE Charity golf tournament. The course was buzzing with excitement as players competed alongside a lineup of notable celebrities and sports legends who came out to show their support for the Cumberland community.
A standout moment of the afternoon occurred when Heisman Trophy winner George Rogers captivated the crowd by bringing his iconic Heisman Trophy. The presence of the trophy provided a rare, historic highlight for attendees, symbolizing the excellence and perseverance that Cumberland Academy encourages in its own students.
Honoring a Guiding Light: Valery Voyles
In a poignant tribute, the weekend served as a special honorary celebration for Valery Voyles, a champion for the school whose legacy of philanthropy and unwavering belief in neurodiverse learners was felt throughout the event. The school recognized her immeasurable impact, ensuring her vision continues to light the path for future students.
Community Support Drives Success
The Cumberland Classic was a resounding success, fueled by the overwhelming generosity of sponsors and attendees. “The support we received this weekend was truly humbling,” said Debbi Scarborough, founding director. “From the energy at Topgolf to the camaraderie on the green at St. Ives, it is clear that our community is deeply committed to providing our students with the specialized resources they need to thrive.”
