Atlanta, GA — November 11th, 2025 — Cumberland Academy of Georgia is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Valery Voyles, one of the school’s founding board members and most dedicated supporters. Valery’s unwavering belief in Cumberland’s mission and her steadfast commitment to students with learning differences shaped the school’s foundation and contributed greatly to the growth and success of the community we are today.
Valery played a pivotal role in the creation and development of Cumberland Academy of Georgia. As a founding board member, she brought vision, leadership, and heart to every decision. Her passion for education, advocacy for neurodiverse learners, and genuine care for students and families helped establish Cumberland as a place where children are seen, understood, and given the opportunity to thrive.

“Valery’s impact on Cumberland Academy of Georgia is immeasurable,” said Debbi Scarborough. “Her kindness, philanthropy, and belief in our mission will continue to resonate throughout our halls, programs, and community for generations to come. She was not only a founding board member—she was a guiding light.”

In addition to her board leadership, Valery was a generous supporter whose contributions helped expand programming, enhance student experiences, and strengthen the school’s long-term sustainability. Her legacy is reflected in the countless students whose lives have been changed through the opportunities she helped make possible.

Our thoughts are with Valery’s family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Cumberland Academy of Georgia is forever grateful for her vision, her heart, and her enduring support.
