Cumberland Academy of Georgia Announces Promotion of Jennifer St. John to Associate Head of School

Atlanta, GA – September 8th, 2025 – Cumberland Academy of Georgia is proud to announce the promotion of Jennifer St. John to the position of Associate Head of School. In her new role, Ms. St. John will continue to build on her strong leadership within the school community, supporting academic programs, faculty, and students as Cumberland advances its mission of educating and supporting students with autism, ADD, ADHD, and other learning differences.

Ms. St. John has been an integral part of the Cumberland team for 2 years, serving most recently as Assistant Head of School. During her time at Cumberland, she has demonstrated exceptional commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment, while also guiding staff and families with care and expertise.

“Jennifer’s leadership, vision, and dedication to our students and faculty make her an invaluable member of our school community,” said Debbi Scarborough, Head of School at Cumberland Academy of Georgia.“Her promotion to Associate Head of School reflects her outstanding contributions and the respect she has earned from colleagues, families, and students alike.”

In her expanded role, Ms. St. John will work closely with the Head of School and the administrative team to enhance academic programming, strengthen faculty development initiatives, and further enrich the student experience at Cumberland.

Debbi Scarborough

From 2007 to present, Debbi Scarborough has been the Headmaster and served on the Board of Directors for this non-profit, special needs school that focuses on children with ASD, ADD, and ADHD. Debbi and her husband Matthew founded Cumberland Academy of Georgia after a frustrating battle of searching for the right school for their son Steven who has ASD. She has built the academy from one student to now over 100, and continues to run the day to day operations.
