The Cumberland Cares program is a monthly initiative where students actively volunteer in the community, making a positive impact beyond the classroom. Each month, the school dedicates a day to service projects, partnering with local organizations to support those in need and contribute to the greater good. This hands-on experience teaches the value of compassion, responsibility, and civic engagement, while also helping students develop empathy and leadership skills. By participating in Cumberland Cares, all students learn the importance of giving back and the powerful role they can play in their community. This program is a key part of our commitment to fostering well-rounded, socially responsible individuals.
We still think it is the best option for our child – he is strong academically, but would struggle socially in a typical school setting and even many of the ‘special needs schools’ because they are more focused on learning disabilities rather than social deficits. I like that there are teachers and staff there that have known my child since he started and will likely be there to see him graduate.
