Cumberland Academy of Georgia’s Beloved Therapy Dog, Haley, Has Died

Students and faculty at Atlanta special-needs school, Cumberland Academy of Georgia, are grieving the loss of the school’s therapy dog, Haley, who recently died.

Cumberland Academy of Georgia’s beloved therapy dog, Haley, recently passed away, and students and faculty are grieving. The dog had been with the Atlanta-based special-needs school since its founding in 2007. No longer having Haley around will be an adjustment for the entire school. (more…)

Atlanta Autism School Cumberland Academy of Georgia Celebrates Students’ Graduation; Welcomes Graduation Speaker Donna Lowry of 11Alive News

Cumberland Academy of Georgia, an Atlanta special needs school, is excited to welcome recently-retired Donna Lowry, Georgia’s only full time education reporter for 11Alive News, to address the graduating class on May 19.

May is a time for celebration as another group of students with Autism, Asperger’s and other learning disabilities graduates from Atlanta special needs school, Cumberland Academy of Georgia. The school specializes in providing a supportive and challenging environment to help students overcome unique educational, emotional and social obstacles, allowing students to achieve their full potential. The annual graduation ceremony is a hallmark moment for these students, teachers and families.At the ceremony on May 19, each of the graduates will proudly take the stage and speak in front of the audience about their experience at Cumberland, and what this milestone means for them.
