If you have a special needs child, Cumberland Academy is one of the best schools in Georgia. The classrooms are spacious and the student teacher ratio is wonderful. The majority of the children have IEP’s, but you cannot tell from the curriculum, standards, expectations and the passion that the educators provide. From day one, they exceeded our expectations things that my son wasn’t able to do, or had never been introduced to, he was not only learning it, but was excelling as well. We love the warm environment and from the moment you enter the building you feel welcome. I love all of courses and extracurricular activities that the children have access to. I was shocked when I saw that they had cooking classes, and not just mediocre, Im talking about a real kitchen where life skills can be learned. Our son had the opportunity to participate in bowling and basketball on a weekly basis, it really helped him socially. He also enjoyed being apart of a family where he truly fit in.
